Sopan Tsekov, 29
from Sofia, Bulgaria is a member of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team International. Sopan has run 12 multi-day races for nine years of running ultra-long distances.
He is the only Bulgarian to run as far as 5000 km or 3100 miles for 50+ days and is currently holding all national records for distances over 700 miles (1126 km). He is the current Bulgarian record holder for 700 miles too (10 days, 20 hours, 58 minutes).
Sopan is the youngest ever in the world to attempt and complete 3100 miles. In 2005 at the age of 24 he completed 3100 miles for 51 days, 16 hours. In 2006 he finished the 3100 for 50 days, 13 hours.
Besides running Sopan also practices meditation under the guidance of his teacher Sri Chinmoy.
